The hotel Casa Andina Private Collection Valle Sagrado feels like a mountain resort that you might find somewhere in the Rockies. Adobe walls, terracotta tiled roofs and precipitous mountain peaks surround you on all sides.

This 92 room hotel is set in three buildings around colourful landscaped gardens in the small town of Yanahuara 10 km from Urubamba and 60 km. from Cusco.  Most of the guests visiting this hotel are just passing through the Sacred Valley, they arrive after 3pm and are gone before 10am the next morning so if peace and quiet is what you are looking for then this is a good option as the hotel is almost deserted during the day giving you free reign to relax and enjoy the gardens and public areas of the hotel.

Things heat up at night with live Andean music in the lobby, a blazing fire and a buzz from the many groups eating in the hotel restaurant Alma and shopping in the Ilaria jewellery store and Usanzas gift store just off the lobby.

Rooms are set in double story buildings off the main wing of the hotel and have excellent views of the surrounding mountains. Rooms are large, spotlessly clean and simple with tartan bed throws, wooden headboards and high quality super-soft bed linen. Bathrooms are somewhat bland and lacking in character but on the plus side all the bathrooms do have full-size baths and the excellent Peruvian range of Kara amenities.

A good buffet breakfast is served in the Alma restaurant each morning again with incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Don’t forget to ask the chef to cook your choice of delicious eggs fresh before your eyes!

Casa Andina Private Collection Valle Sagrado is a good hotel to use as a base to explore the Sacred Valley if you are looking for something peaceful and quiet as it is ideally located just 11 km from Ollantaytambo, gateway to Machu Picchu and 10 km. from the town of Urubamba.
