Inca Rail is one of the three train companies in Cusco that offer transport to Machu Picchu. They have three departures a day and a tourist and executive class available on each of their trains. Inca rail only operates on the route between Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu which takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Tourist class is the more basic service that includes a drink only. The executive service offers a drink and light snack as well as slightly more room between seats. Boarding was orderly and stress free in the Ollantaytambo train station and staff were extremely pleasant. Seats are in comfortable leather and there are excellent views of the surrounding mountains through the large panoramic windows.
Our only complaint was that the train felt slightly cramped particularly as many passengers had luggage. Otherwise, this is a pleasant way to spend the hour and a half getting from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu.

- Try and get a seat on the left-hand side going from Ollantaytambo to Machu Picchu and on the right-hand side from Machu Picchu to Ollantaytambo for the great view of the Urubamba River and surrounding mountains.
